Ran wild and fast /ran right / into anorexia’s arms / rice cakes and an apple a day /the doctors stayed away / swallowed bright pink / pills / shat out anything / that passed / her lips / played this game till she was twenty-five and / bored / married young / divorced / young / lost / eight pounds / the weekend he walked out / waited for the police / the lawyer / the restraining order / found herself at twenty-nine finally / found the city to call / home found a food / to love without complications / found a place to run less / wild and fast / but finally / free
