Annie Baggett is a lifelong writer from South Alabama. When she was young, she wrote songs for her baby brother, who was too young to object to the performances. As she grew older, she developed a love of reading and discovered an interest in creative wordplay in novels, short stories, and especially poetry. This passion led her to take creative writing classes in high school, where she honed her skills in writing, editing, and designing for her school’s literary magazine. As this passion grew, she decided to minor in creative writing and to volunteer with many other creative journals, events, and performances. She hopes to bring her love of writing into her future career as a psychologist to draw more attention to mental health by writing in a way that captures the attention of not just the scientific community but also the literary community.
Laura Coats is an English major with a penchant for all things book related. Often recruited to proofread for her friends, editing seemed like the next step for her. When she’s not in front of her computer, she can be found at the farmer’s market or at the library.
Samuel Crane is a student editor from a town you’ve never heard of in lower Alabama (or the Real LA, as the older folk so slyly refer to it as). It’s the sort of place you can only find when you’re lost. And in a town so small and so unheard of, there’s only so much to do. For Samuel, that was reading and writing, a hobby that would culminate in his studies of English and this very bio.
Alexander Demuth is a published poet from the cozy, windmill-dotted town of Pella, Iowa. He has a love for much of the written word, but there is a special place in his heart for a good mystery or fantasy novel. Whether it be traditional authors like Christie or Tolkien, or newcomers to the genre, he devours all of their stories. This extends beyond the page as well, as many have commented that Alex has an “unhealthy” level of obsession with Scooby-Doo and the show adaptation of Redwall. When not consuming literature in his free time, Alex also edits for Red Rook Press.
Daisha Figueroa is a writer, chronic over-thinker, and lover of stories that leave you with more questions than answers. She has a habit of finding meaning in places where there probably isn’t any. She is fascinated by philosophy, literature, and the strange complexities of being human, often drawing inspiration from memory, emotion, and the little moments that linger long after they happen. When she isn’t writing, Figueroa can usually be found getting lost in her own thoughts or turning a random idea into something she swears will become a finished piece.
Cade Harris is a writer with a love of music and psychological thrillers. They can often be found either writing, reading, or trying to keep their cat from eating their keyboard (cue messily drawn picture of a fox).
Avery Hyche is an English major from Mississippi. She loves painting, reading, antiquing, collecting trinkets and porcelain, movies, and anything that allows her to be creative. Avery most enjoys writing stories that focus on imaginative characters featured in fantastical worlds of her own creation.
Kaylee Musgrove is from everywhere and nowhere all at once. As a military child she has lived in six different states and three countries throughout her life. Throughout all of the change her love of books stayed her guiding light. Her love for literature, specifically books infused with whimsy, was born with Fairy Magic books and nurtured by the Percy Jackson books in her youth. Now she’ll read anything that promises an escape from reality.
Bee Poff-Hydrick is an author cursed to an eternal restless slumber. In their unwilling waking hours, they strive to put their dreams to the page. Whimsical as that may sound, their mind is plagued by nightmares on account of their curse, so the resulting stories tend to be gruesome and disturbing. However, Bee is not deterred by bad dreams. They find the happy ending in every story, seeking catharsis for themself and others. And Bee hopes to deliver that happy ending to you.
Cameron Taylor is a senior in college, studying psychology with a minor in writing. When she’s not staying at home reading a dystopian YA book, she’s playing video games such as Animal Crossing, Minecraft, Stardew Valley, and Lego Star Wars, among others. She has a love for small animals and trinkets. She also loves music and has an affinity for fake plants. Her passion for mental health has led her to pursue a career in therapy, where she aims to help others.
