The Super Bowl Logo Conspiracy

Has it really been right in front of us the whole time???

The Super Bowl Logo Conspiracy

You’ve experienced it. The big game. Really, the biggest game. You’ve had family and friends over for it. You order wings and watch the halftime show. Your team might’ve even played in it (as a Falcons fan, I don’t want to talk about it). With high emotions and high stakes, rumors are bound to fly. The NFL in particular has been the victim of an enormous amount of skepticism. But today I’m not here to theorize. I’m here to present the facts.

The Facts

It all started in 2020 for Super Bowl LIV. A few months before the big game, the logo was revealed for the showdown in Miami. The colors? Red and Gold. The teams? The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.

Ok, Ok. That’s just a coincidence. After all the red and blue logo in 2021 only slightly hinted at the matchup between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Kansas City Chiefs (FYI, you’ll be hearing about the Chiefs a lot).

Super Bowl LVI. Conspiracy all but extinguished. People were excited for unscripted pure football. The logo comes out and… uh oh. The orange, yellow, and blue colorway exactly matched the colors of the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals.

It’s 2023 now. The logo conspiracy became a national media phenomenon. The NFL faced so many script accusations that they even posted a “script-reading” commercial, where they humorously “played” with the notion of the NFL being scripted. Ironically, this just so happened to be the year where the logo did not resemble either of the teams. Hmm…

They’re onto us. 2024 in Paradise, Nevada. The red logo does match the logos of the Chiefs (again) and the 49ers (again). Though the other purple coloring matches neither of the teams.

And finally, the most recent Super Bowl, Super Bowl LIX. The highly anticipated rematch of the Chiefs (again again) and the Eagles (again). Surely the logo theory is all but extinct. But no. The Super Bowl colorway? Green and red. Bingo. This so called “conspiracy” lives on, at least until next year’s Super Bowl.

Looking Back on the Script

Regardless of any proof whatsoever, people are bound to jump to conclusions. This situation is different entirely. Not one, not two, but three instances of Super Bowl fortune telling. But why would the NFL do this? Perhaps to raise awareness for the game? Or perhaps to taunt those of us that have caught on to them? Either way, we have no other choice but to take back our seats on our couches, order some more wings, and watch whatever artist is performing at the halftime show. Or perhaps we can skip the big game entirely when the new Super Bowl logo comes out. Only time will tell.
